Forum is now live!

I've sorted the forum out now, so you should be able to get it from the link on the left. Unfortunately, I couldn't transfer accounts so you'll have to sign up again.

The forum has a few menus, here I'll quickly explain so you can get going straight away as it might be a bit strange at first sight:

1) Discussions - this is where you can post as you normally would have on the old forum.
2) Inbox - this is your own private message inbox
3) Activity - think of this like the news feed on Facebook. Use it like a quick chat, and it even allows comments on each post. This will probably be the most used section I would have thought.

Hope this new forum is an improvement on the last, and that you enjoy it!

Washington Victoria 4 - 0 Steelers FC

Well, after what can only be described as a strange morning, and a stranger pre-season, Washington Victoria finished four goals the better of the Steelers. Hightower opted to pass the gloves on to Iain Race for this game, in an attempt to boost numbers. Racey was replaced in the second half by the gaffa, who hasn't played this side of the century (well I bet it feels like that), and nearly got down to his bottom right to stop a penalty kick (but Hightower nearly scored as well!).

Thanks to the two lads who were loaned to us from the Vic who put in a performance and helped boost the Steelers numbers to 9 (or 8 at times). I know it's hard for the gaffa to select a side when he has so much competition for places, but I bet he's never had it that hard!

Welcome to our new site!

Welcome to our new site. I've been grafting hard on this over the past couple of weeks, and it's finally at a stage to launch. That doesn't mean that it's got all the features it should have straight away. Please bear with me as I continue to work on it to bring it up to scratch. So, what's changed?

>> We're losing the quick chat. We have a forum, and it makes sense to keep the craic in there. This is the only thing we're losing compared to the old website.
>> It's completely rewritten making it easier to look after. I know I could fall behind with the site at times, and that's just because it took a while to update after a game. Now, I've written it so it's easy to update, so when I can't find time someone like Wilf or Kieron will be able to keep on top of it.
>> We have a new team sheet layout in the match reports, that looks a little bit better than our previous layout. Hopefully you'll like this!
>> The stats are calculated automatically, meaning as long as I complete the match report correctly your stats won't be messed up. It also has a nice hover over feature to see where you picked up all your goals and MOM's!

So what doesn't work?

>> As I said, we're losing the quick chat altogether - this isn't coming back.
>> The gallery is empty for the moment - this is something I'm working on, but wasn't a priority when getting the site live. Please bear with me and I'll get it sorted.
>> We don't have a forum for the short term. I'm working on it, and it might take a day to sort, it might take a week. Bear with me and we'll get there, I swear!
>> That's about it. Everything else should work as normal, and be the same or better than the previous site.

Any other plans?

>> Yep! Got plans to add little features here and there, but not straight away - just when I get 5 minutes to think about them.
>> For instance, I'll be adding a feature to order the stats for most goals to least goals, or most red cards (Racey) to least red cards etc.
>> A plan to add the same ordering feature to the league table, so you can quickly find out who scores the most goals etc.
>> A games section, at the request of Racey, possibly (but can't promise) with our own leaderboards to see who has the most time to waste at work!

Shut up Kez, you're getting boring now! Okay, but just wanted to detail what exactly is changing. I'll leave you to hopefully enjoy the site, but leave the forum with me as I'm working on that as a priority.

Oh, one last thing. Once I've got the site up to scratch and everything tied off, I plan to write an Android app so you can get to the site on the go. I can't do an iPhone app though, unless somebody wants to donate an iMac.
